The Xavier University of Louisiana Ornithology Collection currently includes less than 100 specimens. All birds were legally salvaged roadkills or other birds found dead, collected from southern Louisiana since 2019. The collection includes skins and skeletal materials. Tissue samples from these specimens are maintained at the Robert J. Baker Genetic Resources Collection at Texas Tech University. A few ectoparasites are deposited in the Xavier University of Louisiana insect collection.
