The Old Dominion University Natural History Collection of Fishes represents teaching materials from the Department of Biological Sciences. A majority of the collection represents specimens from the Mid-Atlantic/Southeast US region. However there is a substantial portion from outside this region and from around the world. These collections are as old as the 1940s, with additional specimens being collected every year. Most wet specimens were fixed in formalin and preserved in isopropyl alcohol.
