Collection Profile for: Eastern Kentucky University Mammal Collection (EKU-Mammalogy)
The mammal collection at Eastern Kentucky University currently holds ~1,300 specimens but is steadily growing. Our specimen types are entirely dry and consist of both traditionally skinned/stuffed specimens as well as skulls and skeletons. Some of our oldest specimens date back to the 1950s and most recently-added specimens were collected in 2024. The mammal collection at EKU is an excellent representative of Kentucky mammals with over 1,200 specimens collected throughout 65 counties across the state.
